I am an Early Childhood Educator and a Parenting Consultant in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I focus on teaching parents the following:

  • The power of slowing down & simplifying
  • The art of conscious observation
  • The practice of respectful interaction with babies and young children
  • The importance of self-initiated movement and free play in a child's development

My son and I were fortunate enough to be a part of the Calm Parenting playgroups for a year-and-a-half. It was not only a rewarding experience for him to play with the other children his age and engage in a warm, quieting environment, but it allowed me, through Carol's expertise and guidance, to understand my child in a new way. I was able to appreciate how important it can be to sit back and allow him to discover the world on his own without too much interference from me, and it left me feeling more confident as a parent overall.

As I begin the group again with my new daughter, I am reminded of how rewarding it can be to not only connect with other moms and babies but to sit back in a quiet, nurturing space and watch the often astounding abilities that even the tiniest baby can accomplish.
